Strange that a man in booty shorts was the first to appear in this channel, but here was, shorts on with a tool belt and a simple shirt, carrying a rather large box of various other materials in his arms as he waited at the door. Honestly? He was very interested in finally building this silly little project, especially with a new friend!
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 23-Jun-22 09:32 PM
"Yeah! Enter! Or kick the door down, or whatever. Depends on who you are." She said with an underlying chuckle as she leaned back in the couch, tilting her head to the side slightly as she waited for the person on the other side of the door to come into the room.
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 23-Jun-22 09:39 PM
"Don't think I could quite do that, really," Allan said as he didn't kick the door open and rather unceremoniously walked in, setting the box down and gesturing to it. "So, this most of what we need, I think. Have you met Bir, Ikki, and Yuch yet?"

"Beet, yeet and who-now?" She asked with a soft laugh as she got up and looked at the Ensign before her with a warm smile.

Allan laughed, looking over at her and shaking his head. "So, this is gonna sound crazy, but the chief engineer, Alizati, has got his own piece of retro tech in the form of a slithering three-headed furby that can play Kal-toh, but they kinda act like a cat. The point is, I was thinking of making a sort of hoverchair they could use to get around faster," he explained, beginning to pull things out of the box - such as a round sort of chair-like base he had built and whatever the parts needed for it to hover would be. "I was also thinking that like, we could build little compartments into it? Like one for a Kal-toh board, obviously."

"A Furby? God, last time I heard of one of those I was 6, and they scared the living shit out of me." She said with a laugh before she looked around and grabbed some bags - yes, bags - of tools. "Anyhow, you got some schematics or something? Can't build anything without them."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 23-Jun-22 10:18 PM
Allan nodded. "Oh, believe me. First time my boss called me into his fucking quarters that thing was staring me the fuck down and I was absolutely terrified, but after interacting with it more, they're not so bad." He shrugged and looked over at her as she pulled out the multiple bags of tools. "Oh, yeah! Yeah, I've got that... somewhere," he started looking through his bag, moving his PADD, the shorts petition, the turbolift schematic, and some other items to the side before finally he found the schematics he'd done for this little pet project. "Here we go," he said as he laid them out in front of them. "We can, of course, make any changes you want, these are obviously just rough drafts."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 23-Jun-22 10:38 PM
"God, I could imagine. No-one enjoys having six big, beady eyeballs staring straight into your fucking soul." She laughed slightly and shook her head before she walked up to the table. "Alright, let's see here..." She murmured as she nonchalantly threw the bags into the couch and looked at the schematics, letting out a humm of both curiosity and judgement. "Well, I'd start with the power supply. No offense, but that's horrible. You're losing 10% efficiency here in the main grid and another 6% with the power source."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 23-Jun-22 10:44 PM
"No kidding, especially not when you're telling your boss everything you did wrong that week," he said, before looking over at the power supply part of the schematics she was talking about. "Mhm. Don't think any offense can really be taken to something I whipped up while hungover on bloodwine," he said with a laugh, scribbling some notes down onto the schematic, "what would you suggest for a replacement?"
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 23-Jun-22 10:46 PM
"Familiar with fusion cells?" She asked as she looked up at him, only to look back at the schematic moments later. She really knew her stuff regarding this all, didn't she.
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 23-Jun-22 10:53 PM
"Somewhat," Allan said, he was sure he worked with them at one one point or another, but not much. "They need to be somewhat temperature regulated or explode easily or something, though, or is that something else?" He asked her for confirmation, she clearly knew more about them. (edited)
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 23-Jun-22 10:58 PM
"That's a cold fusion core. Close enough though." She said with a shrug. "No, this is a fusion cell." She opened a small drawer that was cleverly hidden into the table and pulled out a glowing, neon blue cylinder with iron caps on the top and bottom. "This thing has enough power to last that ride for half a century. Relatively easy to make too."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 23-Jun-22 11:22 PM
"Oh, shit," Allan said as he looked at the thing, "Yeah, that'd probably be perfect. Would look fucking wicked if we put it where the blue glow could still be seen from a point too, if possible," maybe even a sort of RGB scheme under the chair to complement the color... depending on how creative Bir, Ikki, and Yuch could get with color combinations, of course. "You just have that around?"
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 24-Jun-22 08:48 AM
"I wouldn't leave them exposed if I were you. If you crack its shell, you'll have quite the boom. It's basically an impact grenade if you think about it." She said with a small laugh before she put it down in a gentle manner. "And yes, I do have those just lying around, along with some other things. Wouldn't be a good Tinkerer without them, now would I?"
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 24-Jun-22 07:38 PM
"Shit... really?" He looked over at it curiously, so it -could- explode easily... "Well, God forbid it would happen, but if they crash this thing into a wall or something, I definitely wouldn't want to harm them or anyone or thing that happens to be nearby. Maybe something else would be a bit better for something that can and... potentially just will crash into walls at some point? Like, obviously this thing should have bumpers of some sort, but still," he wanted Bir, Ikki, and Yuch to stay safe! "Guess not, we all have shit we keep around. I have spare parts and tools mostly, and you have... explosive power sources."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 24-Jun-22 08:45 PM
"Oh trust me, it can take a hit. I designed them that way. You just shouldn't throw it at anything or anyone. That'll get messy real quick, especially when there's only a sheet of metal between us and certain death by void and space." She said with a laugh before she sat down in the couch. "Amongst other things, yes. I can't exactly make shit with only power cells, now can I?"
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 24-Jun-22 09:49 PM
"Oh, then we're totally fine, yeah. As long as it can survive typical vehicle shenanigans, we're good," he said, he had no idea how Bir, Ikki, and Yuch would utilize this but just wanted to be prepared for the worst. "Of course not. But I think the sheer power, so to say, of the power cells you just have around is pretty impressive." He started making a sketch in the plan that would fit in the fusion cell in a way that wouldn't leave it exposed or anything, and in turn also adding some cool customizable lights at the bottom to make up for the loss of the cool blue glow.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 24-Jun-22 09:59 PM
"And to think I designed these fuckers when I was ten." She said with a scoff as she picked it back up and looked at the cell, the blue hue covering her face and cybernetic hand. "I haven't changed the cell in my arm since I made it, and it still works beautifully..." She said quietly. "Which is very surprising!!" She suddenly called out after a solid five seconds of silence. "Thought I'd be blown to shreds right about now, but apparently not." She shrugged for a moment before turning back to Allan. "So, what you got?"
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 24-Jun-22 10:48 PM
"Ten!?" Allan asked, absolutely shocked that she had done this at ten years old. "And you do what again? You're really just here to hang out with your mom?" He smiled as he looked over at her, highly doubting that someone who designed such a power device at the age of fucking -ten- would just be hanging around a starbase just to hang out with their mom. Or maybe she made mad bank off of it and could just do whatever she wanted now. Or maybe a bit of something else and that, who knew? Not Allan. "What works, works," he said with a shrug, gesturing to the schematics again. "Just working in the power cell, you should probably look it over," he simply tossed the schematics over to her. "After all, you're the designer of these sorts of things."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 24-Jun-22 11:16 PM
"Damn right I hang out with my mom. What else am I supposed to do? Sit in a corner and write report after report and tend to some lousy plumbing every few days?" She said with a laugh as she caught the schematics and looked over them, raising her eyebrow slightly as she read over them with a smile. "Huh, not bad. I would add a resistor between the drive and steering mechanism though. These cells pack a punch, and like that you're gonna go and drive through a wall or three."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 25-Jun-22 02:55 AM
Allan shook his head, though laughing along with her. "Maybe build more things like this? Or are you pretty much set for life after that...?" He waited as she looked over the schematics. "Sure, sounds good to me. A 3-headed furby breaking through a wall in the middle of the night is," he laughed, imagining such a sight, "terrifyingly amusing, but probably not for the good of anyone."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 25-Jun-22 07:10 AM
"Trust me when I tell you I don't need a job for a very, very long time. My last one got me mountains upon mountains of cash." She said with a laugh before she leaned forwards in her seat, putting the cell back down in the drawer. "Truth be told, they wouldn't survive the crash. That drive would have an output of 500%. Not much can survive a crash at those speeds."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 25-Jun-22 02:18 PM
"As I would imagine," Allan said, assuming it was something similar to this, then of course it resulted in mountains of cash, before smiling over at Jasmine again. "Mm, most likely, yes, but they're also a machine, and while they may have an appearance of a three-headed furby, I've honestly got no clue how indestructible they are." Was that maybe slightly terrifying? Perhaps, but they were sort of his friend at this point, so not so much, he thought as he began to put together the general base of the vehicle.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 25-Jun-22 03:53 PM
"Machine or not. At those speeds you'd fracture most bones in your body." She said with a soft laugh before she moved over and gave him a hand with assembling the different parts of the vehicle. She herself was working on the drive. She thought that would make the most sense seeing the fact it was based on her design. "Though I am curious: what do you think a Tinkerer like myself did for a living these past years?"
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 27-Jun-22 01:14 AM
Allan simply nodded, that was true, he didn't think Bir, Ikki and Yuch were made from steel or anything similar or they wouldn't really be able to slither so well. "Well, I thought you just implied you did one job, or a few, and were absolutely loaded off that so... you wouldn't have to have done anything these past years," he said, continuing to work on the base, finally getting it together - he'd had modt of it prebuilt already, it sort of looked like a little mini-throne, but it would hover... it would be amusing, for sure. Now he started to work on the actual remote ability that would connect to Jasmine's drive. "Just thought you might get bored sometimes up here if you didn't have any more jobs to do, or things to design."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 27-Jun-22 11:04 AM
"I'm 18, of course I had a job these past few years. Apart from when I was 16, that time I spent in prison!" She said rather nonchalantly as she continued to work on the drive, welding some things together and making sure the system could support the fusion cell. "Oh, and trust me, I have made more designs than you can count. Trust me on that."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 27-Jun-22 04:46 PM
"I trust you on that, of course," He asked plainly, as he made sure the joystick to control the vehicle was able to be controlled by simply nudging it in a direction and that it was the right size for, if Bir, Ikki and Yuch so chose to, to be able to fit in one of their mouths and be controlled that way. "I remember the whole prison bit, but I thought you just said you haven't had a job other than chilling with your mom up here but if it's not that, what kind of job have you been doing?"
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 27-Jun-22 04:58 PM
"I tinker stuff together for peeps. It's quite easy; they make a request, I make it, they pay me. I've never made more money in my life." She said with a laugh as she finalized the build of the power system. "Do you have a chassis I can put this in?" She asked as she held up the connected parts.
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 27-Jun-22 05:49 PM
"Yeah, should fit well in right here," he said, smiling at her as he realized how quickly she finished that- then again, it was her own design. The engineer handed the chassis, which was pretty simple as it was a hoverchair and didn't really need wheels or anything. "What type of people are usually your commissioners?"
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 27-Jun-22 05:55 PM
"Anyone and everyone, really. I had people like you, people like the captain and normal civilians. I dabble around - still do, actually." She said with a warm smile as she put the power system into the chassis, putting it in place with some simple connectors.
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 27-Jun-22 06:00 PM
"Oh, wow. I mean, it's not too surprising considering the sheer power you seem to know how to handle very well in such small packages," he said, watching as she put the power system in place. "Is this still the kind of stuff you usually make? I know you mentioned weapons a while back, I know this stuff could probably get... pretty misused in the wrong hands, yeah? Or, depending on how you see it, pretty useful in the right hands." He began to build the joystick connectors out so that they'd eventually pass through to the drive and be able to have pretty good sensitivity and not, as Jasmine had said earlier, drive them through a wall.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 27-Jun-22 07:20 PM
He let out a small scoff as she kept working away on the chassis, shaking her head ever so slightly. "The weapon market is quite profitable from what I've seen, but then again, I tend to make gadgets." She surely didn't confirm nor deny her involvement with creating weapons, she just decided to keep it as vague as possible. She knew better than to spill details.
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 27-Jun-22 09:11 PM
"Ah, so all over the place. Makes sense to diversify clients and whatnot," he thought a bit about how he should maybe advertise shorts to beyond Starfleet somehow, even though they were made from Starfleet pants, as he continued to fix up the joystick mechanism, finishing it soon enough and then placing it aside to just work on little aesthetic finishes to the chair. "What are some of the most interesting things you've madd doing that? Other than the fusion cell, of course."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 27-Jun-22 09:16 PM
"Hmmm, I need to think about that one for a moment..." She said quietly as she continued to work away, finalizing the assembly of the power grid into the chassis. "Well! I did make this... Cube a while back. The client wanted it to be able to take any shape, like a shape shifter, just cybernetic." She said with a shrug. "It took me half a year, but I finally got it to take basic shapes and forms. When I gave it to him, I was paid around 15 bars of latinum."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 27-Jun-22 09:46 PM
"Ohhh! Like a transformation type shape... that's really neat, sort of like what you can get a web of nanobots to do," he said, kind of adding some little cushioning he'd bought that almost perfectly matched Alizati's sofa that Bir, Ikki, and Yuch were always sitting on and attaching the Kal-toh board mechanism and a few other drawers. "15 bars of latinum is a fucking lot, I can't really... offer much for helping out with this, but I really do appreciate it! I can, of course, repay you in... other ways, just not latinum," he said with a smile, meaning he could probably help her out with things if she so needed - although she seemed pretty set, most people always needed help with something at some point.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 27-Jun-22 09:49 PM
"No, it's fine. I offered my help, so you don't have to pay. Or anything of the sorts, really. I'm just here to help, that's it." She said with a laugh as she started to work on the engines. "But if you really want to repay me, I wouldn't say no to a massage." She threw a quick wink Allan's way before she continued her work.
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 28-Jun-22 02:01 AM
Allan laughed, still working on attaching the board and drawer mechanisms, putting little decorative lights and touches on here and there. "Well, you're from around London, right? If you can wait until shore leave, I actually know a girl who can give you the best massage you've had in your entire life down there, I can definitely schedule you in with her at no cost if you'd like," he smiled, the hoverchair pretty much done and looking like a brilliant little throne, all that it really needed was the engine and power that would drive it.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 28-Jun-22 07:13 AM
"Deal." She said as she looked at the Ensign with a smile before she returned to work on the engine. After a few more moments she put it in place and connected it up to the power grid. Then she grabbed the fusion cell and held it out to Allan. "After you, fellow Tinkerer."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 28-Jun-22 02:54 PM
"Bet, I'll send her a message right after this, then," he said, smiling at her warmly as he took the fusion cell in hand. "Thanks again," he put the fusion cell into the hoverchair, and finished up whatever else needed to be done to put that in, before tilting it over and turning it on, watching as it hovered. "Oh, that's beautiful, if I'm to say so myself. Don't you think they'll love it? As much as a machine like them can, that is."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 28-Jun-22 04:27 PM
"Just lines of code." She said with a shrug before she sat back down in the couch and leaned back with a sigh. "They'll like it as much as they're programmed to like something. Not much to it."
Avatar
Ensign Allan Allen | ENG BOT 28-Jun-22 07:48 PM
"True! But seeing as I have no idea how much that is, it'll be fun to see their reaction still," he said, as he carefully turned off and placed the hoverchair into the box he'd initially brought in, lifting it up that way and taking a step towards the door. "Speaking of machines, though, I've got to get to work soon, but this was so fun! Let me know if you have anything you could use my help with, and, well, I'll probably let the chatroom know about anything of mine. See ya around," he said with a smile, and with that he left the room, going back to his own quarters to hopefully speak with Alizati again soon and surprise Bir, Ikki, and Yuch with the fun little thing.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 28-Jun-22 07:55 PM
She smiled and gave him a wave goodbye. "So I will! Though I can promise you I won't be so keen on sharing the details of my work." She said with a small smirk before she put her hands behind her head and laid back in her seat. "Cya around, Ally!"

A beautiful day has begun, and Jasmine was laying down on the couch with a content smile on her face, going through her PADD to see what new things she could create.

[D] The door chimed.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 08-Jul-22 04:20 PM
She looked up and squinted at the door for a moment before she got up and threw her PADD on the table. "Yeah?"
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 08-Jul-22 04:40 PM
The door slid open and Elwyn took a step into the room, wearing a perfectly pressed and neat uniform which hid everything that suggested she was an android apart from her lime green eyes. She smiled at Jasmine despite her reason for being here. "Hi, sorry to disturb you! Ensign Preston with Security. May I come in?" She said cheerily.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 08-Jul-22 04:51 PM
Jasmine raised her eyebrow ever so slightly and gave a nod, gesturing to a seat. "Sure. What do you need?" She asked as she looked over at the woman. Seeing Jasmine was Betazoid, she was fully aware that Elwyn was an Android; androids don't have real emotions after all, only simulated ones. This made her quite curious because of her background in engineering.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 08-Jul-22 04:59 PM
Elwyn smiled and went to sit down, pulling out a PADD from her jacket pocket as she sat. "I think I should get to business. I'm under the belief that you took items from Engineering without permission." The Ensign stated rather simply, although keeping up a polite appearance and smile. She had to balance on the line between formality and politeness.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 08-Jul-22 05:01 PM
"Like what? Tools? What, where you using them to tighten up your elbow servo?" She asked as she picked up her own PADD and scrolled through a few more designs, letting out a small chuckle at the same time.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 08-Jul-22 05:12 PM
"Various equipment, to be precise." Elwyn responded with a small smile, having not even clicked at the comment about her elbow. "There's a difference between using the equipment and taking it for yourself, because it prevents others from being able to use it. I don't think that's very fair, do you?" The Ensign asked, her tone at no point changing from the friendly way she usually spoke.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 08-Jul-22 05:24 PM
"And you have proof of these claims?" She glanced over her PADD and at the Android for a few seconds before she returned to the contents on its screen. "Also, you should know that these kinds of talks don't really work if you're constantly cheerful. If anything I believe it makes others take you a lot less seriously."
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 08-Jul-22 05:32 PM
"I don't believe such a small issue needs me to use a tone that would potentially only serve to cause anxiety for the person I'm speaking to." Elwyn responded with a smile, before looking down at her PADD for a moment, and then looking back up at Jasmine. "I have a witness statement from an Engineering officer saying they saw you take the equipment."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 08-Jul-22 08:49 PM
"Do tell me how I took said equipment and what I took. For I don't believe I can simply take a laser cutter with me under my arm. Those are rather large devices after all." She said with a small scoff as she looked over at the young Ensign. Well, she assumed she was young, anyways. An Android at rank Ensign? That probably meant she wasn't active until a decade ago.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 08-Jul-22 09:57 PM
“Well the witness saw you carrying something, and I have a strong feeling you probably found a way to stash something somewhere.” Elwyn said, still maintaining her cheery appearance regardless of the situation. “I’ll be real with you, I have just cause to search your person and quarters, so I’m going to ask you to make everything easier by telling me where you put all of it. There’s nothing wrong with resident civilians borrowing equipment for a project, but taking it without signing it out through the official channels doesn’t fly I’m afraid.”
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 08-Jul-22 10:01 PM
She let out a sigh and slipped her hand between the pillows of the couch and pulled out a hypospanner before handing it to Elwyn. How she hid it in there remains a mystery, but it surely was impressive as to how she hid it there. "Are we done now? I have some things to do."
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 08-Jul-22 10:10 PM
Elwyn took the took with a smile and put it on a nearby table. “Unfortunately we’re not quite done. You see, multiple items were reported missing. Not just one hypospanner.”
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 08-Jul-22 10:33 PM
"Jumping to conclusions, are we? Very Starfleet of you! I don't know how, but somehow everyone within this organisation seems to be leaping from one conclusion to another. Very odd, I must say." She said with a shrug as she layed down on the couch, making sure her cybernetic arm was facing away from Elwyn.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 09-Jul-22 12:47 PM
"I wouldn't say a factual statement is jumping to conclusions." Elwyn responded cheerfully. As Jasmine laid down on the couch the Ensign's suspicions were raised. She's clearly hiding something, she's clearly defensive, but the real question is why she lay down on the couch. Is there more in there? Under there? On her person? Why did she put her cybernetic arm away from me? "There were multiple items taken, so I'm going to have to scan for them if you don't willingly tell me where they are, assuming you stored them away in these quarters."
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 09-Jul-22 10:47 PM
"And why is the immediate conclusion that I took them? There are more people that walk around Engineering, y'know?" She asked as she raised an eyebrow at Elwyn from over her PADD before she returned to her schematics.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 10-Jul-22 01:15 PM
"The conclusion is being made because you were seen taking items, and no one else was!" Elwyn explained cheerfully. She hoped she was getting this whole thing right. Was she getting this right? What if she wasn't getting this right? No, she's doing her job. It's fine.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 10-Jul-22 04:20 PM
"So? Just because I was seen taking a hypospanner doesn't mean I took all of those missing items. You should do some research beforehand, metal lady." She let out a small scoff before she continued to read through her schematics.

Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 10-Jul-22 06:57 PM
Metal lady? Did that count as an insult? A slur? Just a description? It was probably just a description, and an inaccurate one at that. I'm only part metal! As Elwyn processed what was said to her the smile slowly left her face, before ultimately returning. "Well I'm just going to do a quick scan! If you haven't taken anything else I'll leave you in peace!" The Ensign said, before pulling a tricorder off her belt and setting it to scan for any of the items that were taken from Engineering, making sure to take into consideration any potential hidden compartments hindering the scan.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 10-Jul-22 10:00 PM
"And you have a proper piece of evidence that proves that I took those items? Because I don't exactly feel comfortable with you scanning my tech for no apparent reason. I mean, how'd you like of I suddenly knocked at your door and started scanning you to see if you had taken anything?" She said as she got up and walked to behind the couch, looking at Elwyn from a distance to make sure she wouldn't get close enough to actually start a scan. "I bet the Chief Security would be real happy to know that one of her Ensigns is going around making wild assumptions. She'd love that, I bet."
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 10-Jul-22 10:09 PM
Stepping away. A telltale sign of not wanting to be scanned. If you were innocent, why not just be scanned? It was clear to Elwyn that she’d need to start being a little more formal now. “As I explained, I’m scanning both your quarters and yourself to check for missing items. I would like to remind you that we have active surveillance footage throughout the ship that will back up the witness statement, and that you have already been caught in possession of Starfleet property. As such, I have probable cause to believe there is more that you haven’t given back. I would advise that you do not hinder my scans by backing away from me.” The Ensign’s smile was well and truly gone at this point, but her polite tone remained, all while trying to sound more assertive.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 10-Jul-22 10:15 PM
"And I don't want my tech to become public. It's as simple as that. If you scan my arm, all those juicy details will be printed into your brain and onto that tricorder. And I absolutely don't want that!" She said as she leaned on the couch ever so slightly. She made it pretty clear as to why she didn't want to be scanned, and she was pretty convincing at that. She has done this multiple times already, so she was quite skilled at these kinds of situations. "I believe I'm in my full rights to deny a scan untill proper evidence has been provided. Right now you're just running around with wild accusations stuck to your forehead. Not a good look, metal lady. Not a good look at all."
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 10-Jul-22 10:42 PM
Didn’t want her tech to become public? My entire body is public! This all screamed of trying to get out of being scanned. “I assure you, the technology involved with your arm isn’t being scanned. I’m scanning for specific items only.” Elwyn responded in a reassuring tone, all while keeping a straight face. She took a step forward. “I have probable cause to believe there is Starfleet property within these quarters and potentially on your person that was taken improperly from Engineering.” The Ensign reiterated.

"Isn't everything within these quarters Starfleet property, technically speaking? That includes you, by the way." She said as she gestured to the entirety of Elwyn with her eyebrow raised ever so slightly. "But alright, if you promise nothing of this will become public, then sure. Scan away." She said as she opened her arms and stood there, ready for a scan. Seems like it really was about the tech in her arm.

How am I Starfleet property? That... Makes no sense I'm not owned by anyone. "I mean, not technically. Only the standard furniture and the items you improperly took from Engineering are Starfleet property." Elwyn responded simply, before initiating the scan on her tricorder, looking for any of the equipment that was taken, all while taking into consideration hidden compartments in both the room and on Jasmine's body. You never know where people might hide things.

Jasmine herself was quite clean; she didn't have any tools on her or hidden away. The room would require a more detailed sweep however, she was quite creative after all. "Not to mention the room, the floor, the ceiling, even the simplest things as the air scrubber. All Starfleet property. So is that tricorder and that uniform you're wearing." She gave a light shrug and lowered her arms. "Anyways, we about done? I have things to do."

Upon seeing the scan results Elwyn figured she'd need to do more scans, which is exactly what she started to do while slowly walking around the quarters. "I need to perform more scans to make sure." The Ensign responded simply, having decided to ignore Jasmine's impatience.

"You have fun, I'm gonna go and work on some shit." She said as she pointed to the door to the hallway and walked towards it. She didn't have time for an Ensign scanning every nook and cranny whilst she wanted to simply do her work. She had some jobs to do after all, and London looked awfully nice right about now.

"I'm going to ask you to remain present during my investigation." Elwyn said, all while not even looking towards Jasmine as she spoke, her eyes focused on her scans as she walked through the main room.

"Oh, right! You have protocols, of course!" She said as she gave herself a slight tap on the forehead. "Can you even break protocols? Or do your own make sure you can't?" She said with quite a level of curiosity, crossing her arms as she leaned against the doorpost.

Okay, this was getting a bit irritating now. The assumptions and comments were getting irritating. "I'm following Security protocol. If I have to detain you for a criminal offensive I'd rather you didn't walk off and make my life trickier." The Ensign responded in a neutral tone as she started scanning for hidden compartments in general.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 04:52 PM
There weren't any hidden compartments within these quarters. If the tools were here, Jasmine really did hid them well. "I didn't do anything as of yet, I'm simply asking questions about your nature as you scan everything. Is that really so bad? I didn't know questions were against Federation law."
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 04:59 PM
"They're not." Elwyn responded simply, before deciding to head off into the bathroom next. There were plenty of places to potentially hide something in there. She continued her scans, looking for the missing items that she knew were in here somewhere.

Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 05:01 PM
"Then I ask again: do your protocols prohibited you from breaking any rules, or can you break them?" She asked as she looked at the Ensign walk into the bathroom, which only had bathroom-related items. It seems she hid the tools elsewhere. Perhaps the bedroom would be the place to look at.

Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 05:05 PM
"I don't have protocols." Elwyn responded simply, deciding to not go into details about the protocols she did in fact have, before leaving the bathroom and heading into one of the bedrooms to search there. "I will notify you now, if I find something hidden away that you neglected to provide me with upon prior request I could charge you with hindering an investigation."

Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 05:30 PM
"Well, like I said, I don't have the tools you reported missing. Well, apart from that hypospanner." She said with a slight shrug as she saw the Ensign walk into the bedroom. And guess what was inside that bedroom of hers? A table littered with parts from all kinds of things; servo's, wiring, plating, sensors. From the looks of it, something had been taken apart rather recently, but to figure out what that object was would require a little more investigation. "But ehmmm, why don't you have protocols? Most androids I know have them in order to elicit a proper response out of them on an emotional level. Would be odd if you were the first without them-- Then again, that would explain that constantly cheerful tone of yours."

Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 05:40 PM
Upon seeing the various parts Elwyn switched her tricorder to analyse the elements and try and figure out what had been taken apart. "I am legally classified as sentient. I don't have protocols that can actively be switched on or off, or that dictate my actions. I am just like everyone else on all levels except physical."

"Curious. So you're completely independent? You don't see that often with synthetic life." She said with a small chuckle as she walked into the bedroom and looked over at Elwyn and her little scanning fun. The elements and parts on the table could be a part of numerous things; thermal conduits, neural receivers, cybernetic components and, of course, tools. There was simply too much present in the pile to pull a single conclusion. "See anything you like in there?"
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 05:56 PM
'Synthetic life'. Oh how she hated that phrase. As she wasn't getting anywhere with scanning the pile Elwyn turned her attention - and her tricorder - back to scanning the room for the missing equipment, having at this point decided to not respond to Jasmine entirely, her face remaining entirely neutral.

The rest of the room was clear, unfortunately. It would seem that if she had had the tools, she had disassembled them and added the parts to the pile. Scans alone weren't enough to draw a conclusion. "Welp, I'm going back to drawing schematics and designs. You have fun." And with that she walked back to the living room and pulled out a PADD to continue her reading session.

This was getting irritating. Elwyn's next idea, naturally, was to go and scan the other bedroom to make absolutely sure, so she went off to do just that. She walked into the other room and started scanning it in the same way as before. The Ensign was aware there was a high probability the pile of parts used to be Starfleet equipment, but what she could do about that was unknown as there was no evidence without trying to literally find serial numbers and manufacturing records, provided the equipment wasn't replicated.

Nothing in Georgia's bedroom either. In fact, it was a lot more tidy compared to Jasmine's room. Looks as if mother and daughter and nothing alike.

Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 06:23 PM
Well then. Back to the pile!" *Elwyn exited the far neater and tidier room and went back into the messy teenage bedroom littered with parts. She put her tricorder down on the table before picking each item up individually and looking for serial numbers. This was the one thing she didn't need a tricorder for as she had a good memory.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 06:27 PM
"Have fun!~" She said as she swiped through a few more pages of schematics. In the pile was... A lot. Some parts were Starfleet property, but acquired legally, such as servo's and sensors. Others were from normal vendors, and thus were not property of Starfleet. Only a handful of parts matched those present in some tools, so it would seem that Elwyn had a lead.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 06:31 PM
The Ensign slowly sorted through all of the items until she had three piles - External, Starfleet-made, and the ones that potentially matched the missing equipment. With the third pile in mind Elwyn started trying to piece them together to figure out what they belonged to.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 06:33 PM
Whilst some parts belonged to a tricorder, another belonged to a laser cutter and yet another to a pair of hydraulic tweezers. Combining all these parts together would simply create an abomination. Simply put; parts were missing. And where those went, nobody knows.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 06:36 PM
Seemingly not getting very far with the parts themselves, but having enough information to keep looking, Elwyn picked up her tricorder again and started scanning for the components associated with a tricorder, laser cutter, and hydraulic tweezers. She wasn't giving up yet.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 06:40 PM
All she would pick up was that the parts within her third pile were the only ones that were associated with the tools. Jasmine really went a long way to hide those tools, if she even stole them to begin with.

Elwyn decided to continue her scans in the main room, so she headed out to do exactly that, going to stand near Jasmine in the process. This was getting tedious.

Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 06:49 PM
Jasmine and the main room didn't show any signs of the parts being present. Jasmine looked up at the Ensign as she raised her eyebrow at her. "Scanning me again, are you?"
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 06:53 PM
Seeing as there was nothing here Elwyn then went back to the bathroom to check if there was anything there.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 07:18 PM
Yet again empty. The only part there was a single plate that was similar to the one on the back of her hand. Nothing else.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 07:26 PM
The young Ensign went to go and investigate said plate briefly to see if there was anything relevent.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 08:41 PM
It had an engraving on it that was rather unique-looking, and it really didn't represent anything in particular. Other than that, it was just a plate of metal.
Avatar
Ensign Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 11-Jul-22 09:01 PM
The Ensign blinked as she looked at the plate, before connecting her PADD to her tricorder and scanning the plate to see if any Federation records had a similar symbol logged.
Avatar
Jasmine Hill | CIV BOT 11-Jul-22 09:02 PM
It didn't have any connections to anything special. It seems to be custom made.

Elwyn shrugged, before heading back out into the general living area of the quarters. There was no point wasting any more time here. The equipment, or what was left of it, was clearly long gone. “I’ve conducted my search. Despite there being several components commonly used within Starfleet equipment laying on the table in what I assume is your room I can’t find any other missing equipment. I’ll be taking the hypospanner and logging this incident formally to say we’ve talked and that you willingly handed back the device. Having said that, I am going to advise that Engineering better observe who borrows their equipment to make sure this can’t happen again.” The Ensign said, before going and picking up the spanner. “Enjoy the rest of your evening!” She added, her smile and cheerful tone returning, before walking out of the quarters and into the hallway, her smile fading once out of sight.

Jasmine smirked ever so slightly as the Ensign left and got up from her seat, walking to her room and sitting down behind her desk. Her hand glided through the three piles of parts and she let out a small chuckle. "How sweet, she even sorted them for me." She said as she picked out the heating element from a laser cutter and inspected it before she went back to work as she hummed a song. "Oh Replicator, Oh Replicator. How sweet your recycle functions are~" She sung before she let out a chuckle and went over her list of orders. She was going back to London anyways, so why not do some Tinkerer jobs in the meantime?
